Top 5 Core NLP Strategies for Personal Development

Guest post by Raoul Sidoni
Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) shows that most people often consider their perceptions and emotions when making decisions. What they see in the world isn’t real. Instead, it’s a different version that is based on specific factors including their beliefs, values, and experiences.

Applying these five core techniques will help in improving your understanding and performance.

1. Framing

Framing NLP helps in controlling emotions. It allows you to use your feelings and those of other people to achieve particular goals. Naturally, you will have bad and good experiences in life. They help in achieving personal growth and development. Usually, memories don’t have any emotional attachment as they occur in different parts of your brain.

At times, you might have certain emotions before you recall them. The hippocampus stores long-term memories while the amygdala controls feelings. When you remember a particular scenario, the amygdala reminds you of the feelings you had at that moment. You can change emotions that are related to a specific memory.

2. Pattern Interruption

Your subconscious mind uses pattern interruption to store verbal conversations. You can combine it with other techniques. First, lure another person’s thoughts to a specific pattern. Once they follow a particular sequence, pull them abruptly from the paradigm before they complete the model. The listener’s mind will expect the series to manifest even though you’ve distracted their conscious mind.

3. Anchoring

Anchoring NLP is vital for creating a specific emotion or putting your mind in a particular state. You can use it on yourself or other people. Anchoring associates typically a feeling with individual action. It’s referred to as laying the anchor.

For instance, if you intend to feel happy, it’s wise to think about moments when you were jovial. You will be eager to narrate what led to the happy memory. Contemplate on how you felt and give a detailed narration as you recall the experience.

Next, give your middle and left index fingers two slight squeezes. Think of a light moment and intensify the emotion. Describe your feelings and thoughts before pressing the fingers again. Repeat it five times and use the feelings to recall the happiness you had. If you do it to someone else, anchor them using a gentle touch.

4. Meta Model

The Meta Model strategy helps in understanding other people’s challenges. Also, you can help them solve their problems well. The main aim is to modify the conversation to identify the cause of a particular challenge. Often, when you have a problem, your subconscious mind has an answer. However, you might not like its solution. Uncertainty prevents you from solving problems in time. You can help other people solve their problems by deconstructing the way they describe them

5. Exposing Limiting Beliefs

In any practitioner certification program, you will discover and prove certain limiting beliefs which generally prevent you from achieving your targets. Understand the negative emotions and transform them into positive thoughts. It’s a powerful NLP technique as your perception influences your lifestyle. Moreover, it helps you create practical tools to manage stress. The NLP techniques you learn in a certification course improves your communication and conflict resolution skills.

NLP helps you analyze your past and to have a different perception of life. Also, it improves an individual’s emotional intelligence and communication skills. It’s essential to control your thoughts to achieve personal growth.
